  22. Have you ever thought that the reason most apps don't use an MMU is 
  23. because developers can't depend on it?  That's just like PC users who said
  24. they don't need fast fpu's because most apps don't use it.  While the 
  25. whole time developers were screaming how much easier it would be to code
  26. if the PC chips had decent fpu performance.  Lion software and other game
  27. developers who port PC games to the Mac have said how much easier the
  28. P-Macs are to code because of the much better floating point performance.

  55. Yes it does.  A PPC 601-60Mhz Mac with SpeedDoubler can run most 68K Mac 
  56. software as fast as an '040-40Mhz Quadra 840AV.  The 603e chips are about 
  57. the same speed per Mhz as the 601's.
